A NON-TRADITIONAL ADVENT CALENDAR
TALES FROM THE FOREST
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SPEND A MAGICAL CHRISTMAS SEASON WITH YOUR CHILDREN?
Tales from the Forest has 24 stories for children ages 3 to 7. Blackberry the fairy and Maple the elf take young listeners and emerging readers with them as they learn about life in the forest in each season.
The book makes an excellent and unconventional advent calendar, with one story per day from December 1st to Christmas Eve. Each story comes with an activity page to color or cut out, making the enjoyment last longer and giving little hands something constructive to do in the countdown to Christmas.
Each story in Gentle Tales from the Forest is short and sweet, so they keep the attention of even very young or active children. The stories are written in all capital letters for children just learning their first letters or sounding out words. They are available to read in Czech, Slovak and English.

GENTLE TALES
Gentle Tales from the Forest is part of a new series called Gentle Tales. In a world saturated with action-packed, violent stories, we want to teach children that stories can be different. Gentle, loving and full of understanding, yet still engaging. The equally gentle and engaging illustrations help draw children into the stories.
SPENDING TIME TOGETHER
They say we should read to children at least 20 minutes a day. Gentle Tales from the Forest will help you meet that goal and more – time well spent at one of the most wonderful parts of the year. Spend your winter evenings under a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa reading stories with a heart.
LEARNING ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
Young children often feel an innate love for nature and animals, but as they get older, they need to add understanding to that innocent enthusiasm. This book presents simple, easily understandable and engaging explanations for natural phenomena throughout the year.
HOW TO USE THIS ADVENT CALENDAR
This book features one story and one activity page each day from December 1st to 24th.
- Download this year’s advent calendar. Print one for each child.
- Hang the advent calendar up somewhere your child can see and reach, like on the refrigerator.
- You can copy, print from pdf or color in the book itself.
“Every day we read one story and the little ones did an activity page. Then they filled in the box for that day on the advent calendar and joyfully counted down the days until Christmas. They loved it. Because children know very well that Advent is not about the chocolate, the “stuff” or even about the cleaning. At its best, Advent is a time of peace, anticipation, love and quality time.”
